Interview Result

We interviewed 3 exchanged students. They are American and Canadian. They haven't experienced Japanese sport. We asked them you want to wear Japanese club's costume. All of them wanted to wear Hakama. They have some images of Japanese club activity. They thought that Japanese club activitys are energetic and they are very enthusiastic. They can't distinguish Japanese traditional sports from Korean and Chinese traditional sports.

We want exchanged student to know more information about Japanese club activities!

Kendo Club

Kendo is a sport which use a sword and Japanese traditional sport. There are about 20 members and 3 foreign students from Australia. They fight and compete points. They always practice hard in order to win a victory at conpetition. They practice at sub-arena and arena on Tursday, Wednesday and Saturday.  If you want to see them, you can see there.



This is the NUFS tea ceremony club, “Sabu”. They do the activity every Thursday and practice "Sadou". They hold tea party every season. They serve guest Japanese sweet and green tea. They don't wear Kimono everytime. Usually they wear skirt when they practice "Sadou". It is very beautiful! They are taught by Syuki Irino who is teacher of school of Urasenke. Urasenke is one of the school of "Sadou". They tense atmosphere and enjoy doing "Sadou". At university festival, they serve many people green tea and Japanese sweet.

This is the scene of Kyudo. Every club member take part in club activity after class. When they are performing Kyudo, feel free to observe and challenge it! All of members are very kind and cheerful, so you can learn Japanese culture, Kyudo pleasantly. In this club, you can wear a costume of Kyudo. They are called Hakama. The date of the activity is every Tuesday and Friday after class. It is performed at Sub Arena.

Karate Club


I will introduce Karate club. This club has 22members. (13females, and 9males.) They practice with international students. They practice every Wednesday and Saturday.A place where they practice is a multipurpose hall. All the new members are beginners so they practice basic, such as Kumite (means sparring, and is one of the three main sections of karate training) and Kata ( It is a Japanese word describing detailed patterns of movements practiced either solo or in pairs.)
